Big Sur Adventures

If you haven’t been to California and driven Highway 1, you have no idea what I will discuss in this post. But you can check it out and add this to your “To-do List.”

Bixby Creek Bridgealso known as Bixby Canyon Bridge, on the Big Sur coast of California, is one of the most photographed bridges in California due to its aesthetic design.

We left San Jose and stopped in Carmel. We had lunch at Carmel Plaza, where dad tried oysters for the first time! I was a good boy and just sat there waiting for any treats or pets people could give me. Carmel is a very dog-friendly city by the beach.
After lunch, we drove down Highway 1 in my grandpaw convertible car for the weekend. If you do this drive for the first time, you must do it in a convertible car. That’s the only way to catch all the breeze and enjoy the scenery. My hair blowing in the air was the funniest thing ever, according to my parents.

Our destination was Ventana Campground. We were glamping that night. Glamping is like camping, but with a bed and outlet to charge your phone. It was so much fun when I got there and found another dog that soon became my friend; we played along while humans chatted.

In the morning, we enjoyed our setup and walked around the camp. Mom enjoyed her coffee in the hammock while I protected her from bears – just kidding, no bears in Big Sur, except me.

On the way back, we stopped at Calla Lily Valley, a beautiful natural garden full of Lily flowers right by the beach in Big Sur. I highly recommend it! You have to time it precisely because the flowers don’t last long, we were there at the end of April, and they were starting to die.
We had so much fun in this weekend’s gateway! If you have ever been to this route, share in the comments how it was. Let me know if you haven’t been yet or have any questions.
